BEFORE & AFTER: COSY COTTAGE GUEST ROOM
Explore our freshly remodelled cottage guest room. A cosy beam-lit hideaway complete with a custom daybed and soothing, laid-back charm. Looking to transform your own space? Let’s work together.
Demo day uncovered the real character of the room. We stripped out the ceiling to expose those heritage timbers and patched tired plaster with a silky new skim. Underfoot, the floorboards were salvaged and sanded. This “deep clean” created the structural blank canvas every SANCT renovation needs.
Down to the Bones

Next came the hidden work that makes a space effortless to use. We chased new wiring for reading sconce on the side of the daybed, and installed a blackout linen blind inside the window reveal—perfect for lie-ins. The built in daybed, maximises storage while leaving the floor clear. Every millimetre now earns its keep.

We panelled the walls and wrapped the room in Farrow & Ball’s London Clay—a warm, muddy taupe that deepens the sense of cocooning, while the beams stayed raw for contrast.

Layers, Textures, & Finishing Touches
Finally, we curated tactile comfort. Linen sheets, a waffle-knit throw, and a stack of fringed cushions invite slow mornings. A patterned Soho Home stool doubles as bedside perch and coffee table. Every piece was chosen to add usefulness, texture, or a story (ideally all three).
